Just one day after Croatia voted to constitutionally define marriage as a union only between a man and a woman earlier this month, well-known theatre directors and husband and wife Franka Perković and Bruno Gamulin decided to file for divorce, despite their marriage being a happy one…
“It is not that we don’t love each other, of course. We simply decided that we will blush in front of our friends who we respect and love. Until this country gets their act together, we will stop consuming that exclusive right (marriage), so we will from now onwards live in a defacto marriage or whatever. At the same address. From Sunday 1 December, according to the Croatian constitution, only a man and a woman have the right to be in a marriage, and Franka and Bruno say they do not want to be in one whilst others are forbidden.
