Hollywood star Armand Assante joins filming of “260 Days” in Croatia

ZAGREB, 18 June (Hina) – Director Jakov Sedlar has been filming his new movie “260 Days,” set during the Croatian War of Independence, in Osijek-Baranja County over the past few weeks.

The cast recently welcomed renowned Hollywood actor Armand Assante, the production company “260 days” announced on Sunday.

The film is based on the eponymous novel by Marijan Gubina, which recounts his family’s ordeal in Serbian detention camps during the war.

The book also inspired an award-winning stage play at the Croatian National Theatre (HNK) in Osijek.

At a press conference, Sedlar mentioned that the shooting is expected to wrap up by the end of June. He emphasized the film’s complexity due to its numerous demanding scenes.

“We’re hoping to have Tim Roth join us to portray Marijan Gubina. We have about two weeks of filming left, mainly in Gorjani and Đakovo, with the main portion taking place in Osijek’s historic Tvrđa,” Sedlar said.

The screenplay is based on an authentic account, written by someone who lived through the events, making the film a fictional adaptation of true events.

“I think Armand Assante plays a very interesting and diabolical character, and people will be surprised by his portrayal,” Sedlar added.

Assante expressed his long-standing admiration for Sedlar and his work, which motivated him to join the project, along with the film’s contemporary relevance.
