A trip to Otočac and the beautiful Gacka Valley is incomplete without experiencing the region’s authentic local products, such as nature’s nectar – honey.

Gacka Valley boasts a honey trail featuring 12 registered beekeepers. The Gacka region’s natural environment supports sustainable beekeeping, making Gacka honey ideal for those who are eco-conscious.

Among them are Marinko and Nataša Bronzović, both veterinarians by profession who run the unique OPG Bronzi Bee farm in Prozor, Otočac.

Marinko left his job as a veterinarian to fully dedicate himself to beekeeping, a passion inherited from his father and his uncle.

Their industrious bee colonies, which they have around 160 of them, gather nectar, which the family transforms into various types of high-quality honey, honey-based products, candles, and cosmetics such as balms.

They produce various types of honey such as flower honey, meadow honey, honeydew (forest honey), heather honey, acacia honey, and sage honey.

In addition, they produce special blends, like the creamy honey spread with chocolate and hazelnuts.

The family produces about two tons of honey annually, covering five to six varieties each year.

Apitherapy-inhalation

What sets Bronzi Bee apart is their wooden apicomora, built  ‘without a nail’ and situated right next to the beehives with stunning views of the estate and Gacka Valley.

The apicomora features professional api-inhalers integrated into the beehives, allowing users to breathe air from the beehives enriched with micro-particles of bee products such as nectar, propolis and pollen.

This inhalation therapy aids in treating respiratory diseases, including pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infections and asthma. It also helps with allergies, migraines, chronic headaches, strengthens the immune system, and improves overall physical and mental well-being.
