The upcoming concert of Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson at Zagreb’s Hipodrom has not only sold over 280,000 tickets in record time but also triggered an unprecedented accommodation rush in the capital.
Hotels and private rentals in Zagreb are filling up at lightning speed, with prices soaring up to five times the usual rates.
A reporter from RTL Danas revealed that even hotels just five minutes from the venue are fully booked.
“All accommodation capacities are sold out. We have never seen July this busy, not even when major international artists performed in Zagreb,” Leonardo Buzov Vulas, an operations director at one of the city’s hotels, told RTL.
Of the roughly 70 hotels in Zagreb, only a handful still have rooms available for the first weekend of July.
According to a local hotelier, demand has exceeded all expectations.
“In just two hours, we sold over 250 rooms. Guests are coming not only from Croatia and the region but also from Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Germany.”
The number of visitors expected at the concert is almost double the usual number of tourists in Zagreb throughout the entire month of July.
Currently, only 12 hotels still have availability on Booking.com for the weekend of 5th and 6th July. When including private rentals, only 40 properties remain available—meaning that 98% of accommodations are already booked.
With such high demand, hotel prices have skyrocketed. The most expensive hotel room available costs €661 per night, while the most affordable is €379.
Some rental prices have reportedly exceeded €1,000 per night. “I know of an apartment that usually costs €120 per night, but for that weekend, the price was raised to €250 per night and booked for two nights. That’s more than a 100% increase,” one private renter told RTL Danas.

With just a few months left before the concert, those looking for last-minute accommodation will have to move fast—or be prepared to pay a premium.
