More than 1,000 people have celebrated the 60th birthday of the iconic Croatian boat ‘Tijat’ in Vodice near Šibenik with music, cake and entertainment on Saturday…
Built in 1955 at the Split shipyard, the ‘Tijat’ passenger boat has legendary status in Croatia. The ‘Tijat’, named after an uninhabited island in southwest of Vodice and west of Prvić, is one of the oldest ferries sailing around the Adriatic coast today. It has travelled for the last 6 decades uninterrupted on the Šibenik – Zlarin – Prvić Luka – Šepurine – Vodice route.
The’Tijat’ has a capacity of 300 passengers and is said to never have experienced any major technical faults. Although it is 60 years old there is plenty of life left in the ‘Tijat’.
