Launched back in 1971, Pipi was named after the famous fictional character ‘Pippi Longstocking’ and the orange-flavoured carbonated beverage has been Split and Dalmatia’s most famous since.
After already making its way into the US, Australia, China, and Singapore, and further strengthening its regional position, Pipi bottles and cans can now be found in one of the largest European retail chains, Austrian Spar, Večernji list reported this week.
Pipi is positioned as an independent brand within Spar, amidst strong competition from carbonated beverages, as announced by Pipi Beverages.
“We are proud of this milestone in our business, the expansion into another challenging foreign market. This is a significant achievement not only for Pipi but also for the reputation of Croatian products in the international market. Pipi has the quality, story, and tradition to compete with the biggest brands, and Croatia is another brand that will represent it effectively in demanding Western markets,” stated Luka Diel-Zadro, the CEO of Pipi Beverages.
The Austrian market is not the only major development for Pipi. With an already signed agreement with a distributor, Pipi will also enter the German and Swiss markets this year.

“We have been working intensively for the past six years to strengthen both our brand and retail presence, and this is the result we were confident would come. We remain equally ambitious towards foreign markets and continue to work intensively on expanding into new ones,” concluded Diel-Zadro.
