The “Rizman” brand of extra virgin olive oil, produced in Croatia by the Stimac family – Vlado Stimac and his sons Milhovil, Damir and Igor, Croatia’s international football coach – has won an award at the prestigious Sol d’ Oro International Extra Virgin Olive Oil competition in Italy.
Stimac’s olive oil has been voted among the best 14 olive oils in the world competition. “It is great news! It is the first time we have sent our oil to a competition outside of Croatia and we have immediately won an award,” said Damir to newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.
The Croatian selectors 10 acre olive grove with mostly indigenous Dalmatian varieties of olives is located adjacent to their vineyard in Komarna in Southern Dalmatian on a hill near where the future Peljesac bridge is intended to be built.
At the Sol d’ Oro more than 200 extra virgin olive oils from Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Lebanon are judged by an expert panel of judges from Spain, Chile, Greece, Italy and Slovenia.
