Former Croatia and Derby County centre-back Igor Štimac has become just the third player in Derby County’s 130-year history to have a membership facility named after him…
Štimac and his father Vlado were at Derby’s iPro Stadium for their season opening encounter against Rotherham United on Saturday, where the former Rams captain formally opened ‘Igor’s’, a brand new hospitality club in his honour.
“I spent a beautiful four years at Derby. The town and club will always stay in my heart. I live in Croatia, but I love coming to Derby, following matches, results and crossing my fingers that they return to their place in the Premiership where they belong soon as possible. I believe Steve McClaren will do a good job and that we will return to the Premiership,” said Croatia’s former coach at the official opening.
Following feedback from Derby’s Hospitality members, the Rams introduced Igor’s, a brand new facility, in the North West Corner for the 2014-15 season. Situated on Level Two in the North West corner of the stadium and overlooking the pitch, Igor’s has private balcony seats directly outside and can cater for up to 115 people. A contemporary bespoke menu, offering a modern twist on matchday catering, is served pre-match along with a pay-bar facility throughout the game. Štimac joined Derby from Hajduk Split for £1.57 million in the 1995-6 season.
