ILOK, 9 June 2022 – Everything is ready for the fourth Traminer Festival, when the aromatic grape variety used in white wines is celebrated.
The most attractive festival to date, according to the organisers, will take place in the capital of top traminer wines in Croatia – Ilok.
The festival starts on Friday night with a gala dinner created by top chef and owner of Zagreb’s Bistro Apetit restaurant, Marin Rendić.
Saturday is reserved for thematic workshops, so the wines of the Alto Aldige winery from South Tyrol will be presented, Tomislav Ivanović, one of the most famous wine writers will lead a masterclass on the guest variety Tamjanki, and Traminer from the highest altitude of the winery Aquila Cellars from distant Colorado.
Well known regional winemaker George Bikicki will also be there, and visitors can also enjoy the wines of the Alsatian winery Marc Tempé.
This is just part of a rich program that, of course, includes a tasting from 5 pm until midnight with the musical backdrop of the Sing Song Swing band.
In addition to the top traminers of the most famous Ilok wineries, some relatively new names will be presented, young winemakers from eastern Croatia who continue the centuries-old tradition.
Ever since the first traminer vine was planted in 1710 in today’s most famous Ilok position, Principovac, it has continued to intrigue wine lovers.
“Ilok traminer is the most beautiful invitation to visit Srijem and Slavonia, it is a recognizable brand of our county and the reason why we are not bypassed by wine critics, top connoisseurs and wine lovers. The Traminer Festival is an ideal opportunity to visit Ilok on June 10 and 11 and enjoy the perfect combination of historical heritage, beautiful landscape and top eno-gastronomic offer,” says Rujana Bušić Srpak, director of the Vukovar-Srijem County Tourist Board.
