A Museum with a Difference: Bećarac Museum

In the heart of Pleternica, the Bećarac Museum stands out as one of the few places where silence is not required.

The museum celebrates life, song, and tradition in true Slavonian style. Visitors can enjoy lively performances, try their hand at recording in a sound studio, or even take a ride on a merry-go-round.

The Singing Whale: Terra Panonica Interpretation Centre

Just a few steps from the Bećarac Museum, the Terra Panonica Interpretation Centre offers a unique experience. Here, visitors are introduced to the ancient Pannonian Sea through an animated film starring Đuro, a whale who sings Bećarac.

You can also dive into the depths of this ancient sea using VR goggles – and the experience is even more fun when shared with a friend.

The Golden History of Požega: City Museum

For a quick yet fascinating journey into the history of Zlatna Slavonija, the City Museum of Požega is the place to be. Recently celebrating its 100th anniversary, the museum now boasts a new display.

Visitors can explore exhibits dating back millions of years, from 14-million-year-old fossils to the oldest iron sword, and even learn about Pavle Thaller, the author of the first chemistry textbook.

Ride the Tipsy Bike: Požega House

In Požega, visitors can experience the city in a fun and educational way by pedalling a “tipsy bike” on a simulator. It’s a unique experience at the Požega House, where you’ll also learn about the heroic friar Luka Ibrišimović Sokol and his role in driving the Ottomans from Požega.

The 800-Year-Old Winery: Kutjevo

A visit to Zlatna Slavonija wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the oldest winery in the region. Located in Kutjevo, a town known for its wine production, the winery was built in 1232 and will soon celebrate its 800th anniversary.

The rich history of viticulture and winemaking in this area is an essential part of the region’s cultural heritage.

Interactive Fun for Kids: House of the Pannonian Sea

At the entrance to Papuk Nature Park in Velika, the House of the Pannonian Sea offers an interactive experience for children. They can play on the sandy floor and explore the prehistoric underwater world of the Pannonian Sea.

The fun continues in the garden, where visitors can snap a selfie with a rhinoceros, a once-inhabitant of Slavonia.

A Medieval Mint: Pakrac Town Museum

For a hands-on historical experience, head to the Pakrac Town Museum, where you can forge your own coin, just like the medieval craftsmen who worked in the town’s mint.

In the 13th century, Pakrac was known for producing the Slavonian banovac, a silver coin that was minted in Croatia’s first coinage facility.

A New Chapter for Lipik’s Lipizzaners

The famous Lipizzaner horses of the State Stud Farm in Lipik have a new home, having moved to a modern facility by the Raminac artificial lake. Established in 1843 by Count Janković, this stud farm is now part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage.

A visit to the farm is a must for anyone interested in these majestic horses and the rich tradition of breeding Lipizzaners.
