International Baroque Festival Starts on Korčula

Some of the world’s leading baroque music ensembles are on the Croatian island of Korčula for the 3rd Korkyra Baroque Festival which is currently taking place…
Some of the best baroque music specialists in the business from Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Great Britain and Croatia are performing at this year’s week-long festival which will end on 12 September. Launched for the first time in 2012, the festival in now in its 3rd year has been a huge success, not only for baroque music, but also for Croatian and Korčula cultural tourism, promoting Korčula’s unique baroque architectural heritage.
The islands traditional Moreška sword dance, which dates back hundreds of years, opened proceedings on the weekend, and Capella de Ministrers (Spain), Paolo Lopez (Italy), Antiphonus (Croatia), His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts (Great Britain), La Venexiana (Italy) and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble (Croatia) will all perform this year.
