Croatia’s largest ferry company, Jadrolinija, have updated its fleet with the acquisition of catamaran from Norway…
Jadrolinija have signed a purchase agreement with Norwegian transport conglomerate Fjord1. Jadrolinija will purchase a modern carbon fibre catamaran built in 2011 in Norway. The capacity of the catamaran, which has been decked out to a high standard, is 295 people. The catamaran is 38.50 metres long and 10.20 metres wide and can do a maximum speed of 33 knots. The catamaran is worth more than 5 million euros, reports Poslovni dnevnik.
“Buying this new catamaran will contribute to creating a stronger Jadrolinija. This means competitiveness for Jadrolinija in concession tenders which are before us, more efficient connectivity to existing catamaran lines, more comfort for our passengers and a higher level of service. With prices of used passenger ships in the last 12 months growing, it was necessary to promptly respond to this opportunity, and it is a good price for a catamaran five years old with a very attractive design,”Alan Klanac, CEO of Jadrolinija, said.
The new catamaran is expected to start on routes on Croatia’s Adriatic coast in May this year.
