The largest ship in the history of Jadrolinija has arrived in Croatia, the company said on Friday.
The ship “Dalmacija,” an €18 million investment, brings innovation to international maritime transport.
This vessel, formerly named the “Oslofjord,” was built in 1993 at the Norwegian shipyard Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder AS. In 2014, it underwent reconstruction at STX in Finland, following a design project by OSK Design, which collaborates with leading global shipping companies.
“Dalmacija” marks the largest ship in the history of Jadrolinija’s fleet. With an average speed of 17 knots, it can accommodate 1,800 passengers and 350 vehicles.
Designed for the international route between Dubrovnik and Bari, its features allow Jadrolinija to adjust the line concept, operating up to ten trips per week during peak season.
Offering eight decks filled with amenities, including two restaurants, three bars, a grill bar, a children’s play area, and open decks, the journey across the Adriatic will be comfortable and swift.
Jadrolinija takes pride in this investment, continuing the tradition of renewing its fleet and modernizing operations.
“Maintaining international lines has been a longstanding tradition for Jadrolinija. From the days of Jadrolinija cruises to today’s connections with Italy, passengers have consistently returned to us. However, we must also consider our competitiveness in the international market and adapt to trends and passenger needs. We are confident that the ship ‘Dalmacija,’ with all its amenities, capacity, and speed, will bring a refreshing change that will be greatly welcomed by our passengers. This reflects our commitment to developing all aspects of Jadrolinija’s operations and building a white fleet that the entire country can be proud of,” stated David Sopta, President of Jadrolinija’s Management Board.
The name of the ship, “Dalmacija,” also speaks to its continuation of the long tradition of international routes. In fact, “Dalmacija” was a passenger ship built in 1965 during the era of Jadrolinija cruises, connecting Croatia with ports across the Mediterranean.
