José Carreras, one of the world’s greatest tenors, will perform on Monday, 23rd September, at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.
The repertoire for this much-anticipated event has now been revealed, featuring some of the most celebrated works from the Italian musical tradition.
Among the highlights will be the iconic composition Chitarra Romana by Eldo di Lazzaro, a nostalgic song that captures the essence of Rome and evokes memories of old Italy.
Carreras, with his unmatched passion and artistry, breathes life into this piece, transcending classical interpretation.
The audience will also be treated to one of the most famous Italian songs of all time, the evergreen O Sole Mio by Edoardo Di Capua, a melody that continues to touch the hearts of listeners around the globe.
Carreras will also perform lesser-known, yet equally moving arias, such as Vurria by Furio Rendine, a song that expresses longing and love in a uniquely Neapolitan way, and the passionate Passione by Nicola Valente, a piece brimming with intense emotion, perfectly suited to Carreras’s expressive interpretation.
Joining him on stage will be conductor David Giménez, while the special guest for the evening will be the renowned Croatian soprano, Martina Zadro.
“I am especially excited to perform again with Mr Carreras, particularly in my hometown of Zagreb. This will be our seventh performance together, beginning with a concert at Pula Arena in 2016, and we have since performed together in Graz, Ljubljana, Saudi Arabia, on the island of Elba, and at the Castell Peralada Festival near Barcelona, his home city. As always, it is a great thrill to perform alongside a legend like José Carreras, and I am honoured to have been chosen as his guest once again. We will win over the audience with our hearts!” Zadro said.
A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at the concert hall box office or via Eventim.hr and Ulaznice.hr.
