The 37th Karlovac Dani Piva (Beer Days) are inspired by the first Beer Days held in 1984, when beer flowed from the city’s fountain.

The programme for the 37th Karlovac Beer Days has been unveiled, promising good music, beer, and food. From 30th August to 3rd September, Karlovac will be the place to be.

Free beer fountain

To mark two significant anniversaries – 40 years of the festival and 170 years of Karlovačko beer – visitors will be able to enjoy free Karlovačko beer from the fountain on 30th August and 3rd September at 6 p.m.

“The history of Karlovačko beer and the Karlovačko brewery is deeply intertwined with the history of Karlovac, lasting for 170 years. The long-standing partnership between the City and Karlovačko highlights our shared commitment to offering a unique experience to beer lovers year after year.

That’s why, after forty years, we decided to recall the time when our collaboration first began. Inspired by the early Beer Days, we have reconstructed the legendary fountain from which Karlovačko beer will flow freely for all visitors to the Beer Days on the opening day, 30th August at 6 p.m., and again on the fifth day of the festival, Tuesday, 3rd September, on the terrace of Edison Cinema,” announced Maud Meijboom-van Wel, President of the Management Board of HEINEKEN Croatia.

In the Gastro corner, visitors can enjoy concerts by various bands, including Leteći Odred, The Giggsons, Strings Band, Magnusi, Glazba Ston, Black & White, and Rivers Band. The detailed performance schedule is available in the Beer Days programme.

A Diverse Selection of Beers and Beer Gastronomy

Karlovačko beer, the main sponsor of Beer Days, will bring 17 varieties of international beers to the World of Beer, many of which are not typically available in Croatia.

These include Mort Subite, a fruity cherry-flavoured beer; the malt lager Cruzcampo Gran Reserva; the refreshing pale lager Birra Moretti; Laško Burin, a beer infused with salt from the Piran Bay; the pale lager Red Stripe; and many others.

Classic favourites such as Karlovačko, Heineken®, Heineken® 0.0, Lagunitas IPA, Sol, and Stari Lisac will also be available. In addition to the rich beer portfolio from Karlovačko’s World of Beer, craft beers from Podrum Brewery and Medvedgrad Brewery will be offered at the Promenade.

Both the Promenade and the Gastro corner will feature a wide variety of food to suit all tastes, including burgers, tacos, tortillas, veggie burgers, various grilled dishes, and desserts.

Not to be missed are the large beer pretzels from the Žitoproizvod company, which are also celebrating a forty-year tradition, having been produced for the first time for Beer Days.

Entertainment for Everyone

Visitors can also partake in a variety of activities, such as the Beer Hunt, the competitive game Corn Hole, a film and music culture quiz hosted by renowned quizmaster Morana Zibar, and many fun activities within the Karlovačko Fun&Chill zone, including carnival games like bell ringing or tossing bags filled with barley, and the ever-popular table football.

As a special addition to this year’s festival, there will be a presentation of the book “The Fifth River of Karlovac” by author Krešimir Perušić, which delves into the rich history of Karlovačko beer.

“The diverse thematic content associated with the beer tourism product adds value to Beer Days and contributes to the quality of the experience and the enhancement of tourism development in Karlovac,” said Marina Burić, Director of the Karlovac Tourist Board.

This year, visitors of legal drinking age will receive “I’m 18+” wristbands to promote responsible beer consumption. An educational workshop will be held in collaboration with the Karlovac Police Department, where visitors can try a motorcycle driving simulator and a safety helmet, “drunk goggles,” and a “Dräger” device to measure blood alcohol levels.

As in previous years, the City of Karlovac and Karlovačko beer have arranged train and bus transport for a convenient and safe journey to and from Beer Days.

Karlovačko beer, the main sponsor of Beer Days, is celebrating 170 years of existence this year. It has been that long since Baron Nikola Vranyczany built the brewery in Dubovac in 1854.

The first Karlovac Beer Days were held 40 years ago, exactly on the 130th anniversary of the Brewery. More information about Beer Days can be found on the festival’s official website, as well as on their Facebook and Instagram profiles.
