Kristina Halužan from Zagreb pizzeria O’Hara has been named the winner of the best pizza maker in the country at the 2015 Croatia Pizza Cup over the weekend…
Now in its second year, The 2015 Croatia Pizza Cup, which awards the best pizzas in Croatia, was held recently at Hotel Panorama in the northern town of Prelog.
In second place was Marija Vodopija from the Istrian restaurant Konoba – Gatto Nero in Novigrad, whilst third place went to Ivan Delimar from 5 Plus in Koprivnica.
“There has definitely been an improvement in quality from last year,” the judges said, whilst tasting this year’s entrants.
This year 14 pizza maestros from Croatia’s best pizzerias took part in the event, with the panel of judges scoring their pizzas according to strict international criteria based on appearance, structure and quality of the dough, taste, quantity of ingredients and overall impression based on compliance of all the elements.
Halužan’s victory has assured her a place in the Pizza World Cup in Rome.
