LADO starts traditional Christmas concert tour across Croatia

Today, the LADO ensemble is embarking on its traditional Christmas tour, during which they will hold concerts in Šibenik, Otočac, Rijeka, Sv. Ivan Zelina, Zagreb and Varaždin.

The one-hour Christmas program called Srićna noć je prispila was prepared by the artistic director of the LADO Ensemble Krunoslav Šokac and the music director – conductor Bojan Pogrmilović.

The program contains 19 musical numbers arranged by some of the most famous music arrangers – Božo Potočnik, Tomislav Uhlik, Ivica Ivanković, Dražen Kurilovčan, Joško Ćaleta, Dinko Fia, Zoran Jakunić and Branko Ivanković.

The repertoire includes well-known Croatian Christmas songs such as Veselje ti navješćujem, Oj diješce moje drago and Radujte se narodi, but also lesser-known arrangements of Christmas folk songs and melodies belonging to the ancient layer of Croatian traditional and church folk music practice. Thus, well-known and lesser-known Christmas carols from Hrvatsko Zagorje, Turopolje, Slavonia, Baranja, Međimurje, Gradišće, Dalmatia and Dubrovnik will be heard.

On the eve of the Rijeka concert, at 5.30 pm in the Marble Hall of the Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, the musicians of the LADO Ensemble will hold a presentation of traditional instruments.

Advent in Lado

As part of the Advent in Lado event, which is being held as part of Advent in Zagreb, LADO has included another concert date. In addition to the already sold-out date on December 18, the Christmas concert will also be available on December 23 in the hall of the LADO Ensemble on Trg Republike Hrvatske 6a, starting at 7 p.m. Due to the limited number of places, it is necessary to apply via the form published on bit.ly/Advent_u_Ladu-bozicni-23_12_2021.

For the concerts to be held in the Lado Hall, it will be necessary to show a valid EU digital COVID certificate and identification document. A quick antigen test will be available for 60 kuna at the LADO Ensemble headquarters.
