Latest FIFA Rankings: Croatia overtakes Portugal

ZAGREB, 28 November 2019 – Croatia has overtaken Portugal to end the year as FIFA’s 6th top-ranked team.
Croatia’s 3-1 victory over Slovakia earlier this month, which secured them a spot at Euro 2020, has helped them leapfrog past Portugal to claim the no.6 spot on the latest FIFA Rankings which where released on Thursday.
Belgium, which won all 10 of its games in 2019, end the year as FIFA’s top-ranked team and they have extended their lead over World Cup winners France at the top of the rankings.
Brazil end the year in third place behind France, followed by England in 4th and Uruguay in 5th spot, just one place ahead of Croatia. Croatia is now just three points behind Uruguay.
Portugal, who dropped to 7th place from no.6, are ahead of Spain, Argentina and Colombia who round out the top 10.
Last month Croatia moved ahead of Spain thanks to victory in Split against Hungary and a draw in Cardiff against Wales.
