Today’s Phrase
svako svoga konja hvali
Today’s phrase of the day svako svoga konja hvali is an old folk saying to sum up those who always think their own is the best – will not admit if something else is better. Now this can range from anything such as one saying his town, village, football team, potatoes, car, country, or anything for that matter is the best. The literal translation is – Everyone praises his own horse.
Example: Croatian who makes wine in his own kitchen talking to a guest. WM -“You have to taste my homemade wine, this is the best red in the world, better than any of that French rubbish.” – G.” This is not the best.. better to use this on the salad..svako svoga konja hvali…”
