Our ‘Word / Phrase of the Week’ will teach you a variety of words and phrases commonly used in Croatia, but not commonly found in language learning material.
Today’s Phrase:
Bolje sam se udala nego sam se nadala
Literal translation: I married better than I hoped to.
Explanation: I heard this phrase first on the island of Ugljan. It is used to describe any situation where reality exceeds expectations. For example when you purchase something in the supermarket, and the cashier tells you it is discounted (which you previously didn’t know).
