Life Saving Australian-Croat Receives Medal

An Australian-Croat has been honoured in Australia for his courage after saving a young persons life. Ivica Glavas, who is from the city of Melbourne, was the recipient of The Australian Security Medal of Valour, an award given to recognise acts of valour, courage and decisiveness.

Glavas went beyond ‘the call of duty’ when he prevented the suicide of an emotionally disturbed person and was awarded the medal during a ceremony in Sydney earlier this month. After noticing a car with a hose running from its exhaust, Glavas immediately intervened, smashing the car window to rescue the man inside who was attempting to take his own life.  Only a maximum of ten people receive the award annually in Australia.
