Zagreb, July 12, 2024 – At the competition for designing the visual identity of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board organized by the Croatian Designers Association, the work of Andrej Filetin and Mila Marina Burger from the Filburg studio, titled ‘Lipo li je’, won the top prize.
A total of 20 works were submitted to the public call competition, and the judging panel consisted of esteemed and respected names in Croatian design as well as representatives of the client.
“The judging panel commends the recognition of the communicative potential of the term ‘Dalmatia’ and the high level of elaboration of the proposed solution. We especially note the wide range of applications and the development of the proposed identity system which is coherent in all elements,” reported the Croatian Designers Association.
We spoke with the concept’s author and asked what stands behind this solution.
“With this proposal, our aim was to create a system that primarily exudes the unique Dalmatian approach to life through its atmosphere, a system that in each of its incarnations intuitively prompts the viewer to think (or better yet, feel): ‘Lipo li je.’,” begins Andrej Filetin, co-owner of the studio and an award-winning Croatian designer.
In the last two decades of work, Andrej Filetin has designed hundreds of projects in online and offline spaces, judged numerous design competitions, led multidisciplinary creative teams, and worked with clients on four continents.

“As the key motif of our conceptual solution, we chose the open sea, a motif rich with multiple symbolism but primarily a motif that allows an atmospheric approach to the visual system, one that has the potential to convey the Dalmatian lifestyle in a communicative yet elegant manner,” he continues.
The importance and success of the work are best conveyed by the profession itself.
“The proposed work is unequivocally successful, guided by a clear theme, avoiding the common pitfall of competition proposals that may seem like a series of unrelated graphic sensations,” noted the judging panel of the competition and unanimously turned the spotlight on this visual solution which will represent Dalmatia to the world for all of us.
