The Murter – Kornati Municipal Council in Dalmatia on Monday have unanimously voted against a spatial plan which includes a 20 hectare tuna fish farm owned by retired General Ante Gotovina…
Gotovina, who was acquitted by a Hague Court in November last year after spending more than 7 years in jail, formed the tuna farming company Pelagos net farma last year and had recently acquired a 7.9 million kuna (just over 1 million euros) credit from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) to develop his business.
“We expressed a negative opinion, noting that in our municipality there are more favorable places for the tuna farm. Residents and others have complained to us about previous bad experiences with such tuna farms. Their intention on putting the tuna farm in was never announced to us,” an independent councilor said after the meeting.
