Croatian football legend Luka Modrić is set to become a part-owner of Welsh football club Swansea City, respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported.

The deal, which has already been finalised according to Romano, will see the Real Madrid midfielder acquire a minority share in the Championship club.

Swansea City, founded in 1912, currently plays in the English Championship. The club enjoyed a solid run in the Premier League between 2011 and 2018 but has struggled to return to the top flight since.

This move is part of Modrić’s growing interest in investments off the football pitch.

Just recently, he became one of the new owners of Zeppelin Craft Brewery, a popular brewery located in the city of Bjelovar, Croatia.

Founded in 2017 by a group of passionate beer lovers, Zeppelin has built a strong reputation for its unfiltered and unpasteurised craft beers. Known for their high quality, the beers are highly rated and enjoyed by enthusiasts across the country.

Despite the recent investments, Modrić reportedly remains fully focused on his footballing career and has no plans to leave Real Madrid just yet.

Modrić’s current contract with the Spanish giants runs until the end of the season.

His wish is to extend his stay at the club for another year, although it is still unclear whether Real Madrid will offer a new deal.

The 39-year-old, who turns 40 in September, has defied expectations with his performances and dedication, becoming the club’s most decorated player with 28 trophies since joining in 2012.
