A big milestone is coming up for Croatian football captain Luka Modric when Croatia meets Finland on Friday in Rijeka in their FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier.
The Real Madrid midfielder will earn his 100th cap for his country on Friday against Finland.
Modric, who sits on 99 caps, made his full international debut for Croatia on 1 March 2006 in a friendly match against Argentina in Basel, which Croatia won 3–2 and has scored 11 goals for his country since scoring his first goal in Croatia’s 2–0 friendly win over Italy in 2006.
Modric’s first World Cup appearance was at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals when he came on as a substitute in the group fixtures against Japan and Australia. He also played at FIFA World Cup in 2014 as well as EURO 2008, 2012 and 2016.
Modric took over from Darijo Srna as captain of Croatia in September 2016 and has represented Croatia in 49 different cities around the world.
