A Croatian man, who was accused of ordering the killings of his mother and father, has been sentenced in a Zagreb court to 15-years jail.
Zvonimir Balov offered an acquaintance 100,000 euros to kill his father, and later the same amount to kill his mother and family dog in 2011 so he could get his hands on his parents assets. Police intervened before any fatal damage was done, when the man who was ordered to carry out the killings notified the police.
Balov, who pleaded guilty after secret conversations between him and the man he engaged to kill his parents were played in court, expressed his remorse before sentencing saying that alcohol played a big part in his crime.
