Croatia’s Number One tennis player Marin Čilić has assured himself a spot in the season-ending ATP finals in London.
Čilić booked his spot in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals with a 3rd round win over Belgium David Goffin in Paris 6-3, 7-6 (9) on Thursday. Čilić had 5 match points before finally winning the match in straight sets.
The Croatian, who will lead his country in the Davis Cup final this month against Argentina, moves past Dominic Thiem (3,215 points) to No. 8 in the Emirates ATP Race To London on 3,270 points.
The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals is played between the top 8 players in the world and will be held at The O2 in London from 13-20 November. The champion this year will receive $1,560,000 in prize money.
Čilić will next face World No. 1 and four-time champion Novak Djokovic or No. 14 seed Grigor Dimitrov in Paris.
