Croatia’s hopes in the singles competition at the French Open in Paris ended on Monday when Marin Čilić was beaten by Spain’s David Ferrer in the 4th Round…
Čilić was hoping to achieve his best ever result at Roland Garros by making it through to the last 8, but too many unforced errors cost the 26-year-old against the experienced 8th seed Spaniard. Ferrer broke Čilić early in both sets to run away with a 6-2, 6-2 lead, and despite some more, albeit little, resistance in the 3rd set, the Croat bowed out of the tournament in the end in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.
