After beating the No.2 seed in the last round, Marin Čilić has taken care of the No.7 seed today to move into the semi-finals of the French Open for the first time.
The 20th seed Croatian beat Russian Andrey Rublev on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Wednesday 5:7, 6:3, 6:4, 3:6, 7:6 to reach the last four at Roland Garros.
This is the first time he has reached the semi-finals at Roland-Garros. His previous best performances were quarter-final finishes in 2017 and 2018.
The former US Open champ has been impressive in Paris. In the fourth round, the 33-year-old beat No.2 seed Daniil Medvedev in straight sets and now has the scalp of another top ten Russian.
Čilić now faces either Casper Ruud or Holger Rune for a place in the final.
