The Chelsea target won the award based on research of public opinion as to who was the most popular, most recognizable, most successful, and most marketable sportsperson in Croatia in 2013. Mandžukić was wrapped to win the award which was presented to him in Munich by SPORTO BRANDS. Croatia’s Olympic gold medal winning discus thrower Sandra Perković was named the best female brand, while Zagreb-based ice hockey club Medveščak won best club.
“I am happy because of this award! I would like to thank everyone that voted for me and selected me as SPORTO BRAND’s best brand in Croatia among sportspeople. I am very proud to win this award, especially as it is an award that the public selects,” Mandžukić said.
