Mario Stanic & Igor Tudor team up at Hajduk Split

SPLIT, 23 December 2019 – Two former Croatia internationals and members of the bronze-winning 1998 World Cup team are hoping to help take Hajduk Split back to the top of Croatian football. 

Last week, Mario Stanic was named as Hajduk’s new Advisor on Sports Policy, and today the club announced Igor Tudor as the new manager. Both Stanic and Tudor were teammates in France in 1998 when Croatia reached the semi-final of the World Cup. 

Tudor, who previously coached Hajduk five years ago, was presented to the public on Monday. The 41-year-old will lead the team for the first time since 2015 against Varazdin when the Croatian league resumes after the winter break in February. 

Hajduk have not won the Croatian first division since the 2004-05 season and Tudor has been charged with ending the drought. 

Tudor, who spent much of his playing career at Hajduk Split and Italian club Juventus, took charge of Hajduk Split from 2013 to 2015 in his first real coaching role. Since then he spent time in charge at PAOK in Greece, Karabükspor and Galatasaray in Turkey and at Udinese in Italy.
