Croatia’s Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin has expressed his satisfaction at how the tourist season is shaping up this year…
Speaking in a radio interview this morning on HRT, Lorencin says that the indications are for a better season than that last year.
“According to bookings from tour operators and hotels, there have been 10-15% more than in the same period last year,” said Lorencin, who says the Croatia 365 programme, aimed at attracting tourists to the country all year round, has already had an impact.
With tourism growth in December, January, and February, Lorencin expects another 35-40 destinations in Croatia to be included in the programme. 22 destinations in Croatia were initially included in the Croatia 365 programme, which with help from the Ministry focused on improving facilities and activities around 6 main areas; culture, gastronomy and wine, active tourism, bike tourism, health and wellness, and business tourism.
Lorencin added that it was important to motivate tourists to visit Croatia outside the summer months. Projects such as the successful Tour of Croatia cycling race held last week, added another dimension to Croatia’s tourist offering.
