She was all packed and set to fly out to Las Vegas tomorrow, but an unfortunate accident on the weekend means that Miss Universe Croatia Barbara Ljiljak (above) will now have to watch prestigious pageant on the TV…
Ljiljak was in Vienna on the weekend with her mother and sister when she slipped and fell, breaking her arm in the process and ruling out her chances of representing her country in the 2015 Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas.
Ljiljak says that she is still in shock and can believe what has happened, but wished her replacement the best of luck.
Ljiljak’s replacement will be Mirta Kuštan, who was the second-runner up of Miss Universe Croatia pageant earlier this year. The first runner-up, Alma Fabulić, was unavailable due to commitments in China.
22-year-old, 178cm Kuštan, who is a law student in Zagreb, says that she is still in shock and thought someone was playing a joke on her when she got the call to say that is to represent Croatia at the pageant in Las Vegas. Kuštan will head off to Vegas on Wednesday.
Miss Universe 2015 will be held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on 20 December. The finals will be broadcast live on Fox TV as well as on 180 stations around the world.
