Croatia’s Minister of Tourism believes that Croatia will see both more tourists and revenue from tourism this year…
Minister Darko Lorencin expects arrivals and overnight stays to increase by several percentage points in 2015 after a rocketing start in the first two months of the year which has seen double-digit growth in arrivals. 289,000 tourists arrived in Croatia in January and February, a rise of 14.1% from the same period in 2014.
Lorencin says that he is happy how the Croatia 365 project, an initiative aimed at creating programmes and offerings to attract tourists outside the traditional summer months, is going. Lorencin has just returned from promoting Croatia in Berlin, where he attended the world’s largest travel fair, and is optimistic with the year ahead, especially from Croatia’s largest market – Germany.
Lorencin says the strengthening US dollar is also good news for Croatia which has seen an increase in the number of arrivals from the United States and Canada. The Asian market is still an important emerging one, with the largest growth in tourism traffic in February recorded from South Korea and Japan.
