The musical attraction from New Zealand, Samoana, continues to captivate the Croatian audience. Brothers Christian and Austin have been in Croatia for two months now, performing throughout the beautiful country, and surprised the people of Zagreb with a free concert on King Tomislav Square.
In the gaps between their busy schedule, the charming duo managed to film a music video for their second solo single, “Oprosti,” which is being released in collaboration with the record labels Croatia Records and Rubikon Sound Factory.
The beautiful Mediterranean pop song, “Oprosti,” is another future hit created in the hit Rubikon Sound Factory, led by the successful Croatian songwriter, Ante Pecotić, and renowned producer Bojan Šalamon Shalla.
Ante Pecotić wrote the lyrics and music, while Bojan Šalamon Shalla was responsible for the arrangement and production of the single “Oprosti,” which perfectly complements Samoana’s unique vocal expression.
“The song was written for us by the great Ante Pecotić, whom we highly respect, and we are happy to have the opportunity to collaborate with him and Shalla. Our musical collaboration with the production house Rubikon Sound Factory began spontaneously, with a meeting with producer Shalla, who is also a member of the popular group Zaprešić Boys, during their tour in Australia back in 2018. We quickly became friends, and after another encounter in America during another Zaprešić Boys tour, Shalla invited us to his studio in Zagreb. After our well-known performance at Dinamo’s match in Maksimir in 2019, we went straight to Rubikon Sound Factory, where we sang and played with Shalla and Ante until late into the night, and agreed on a collaboration. Due to the pandemic, everything slowed down, but our plans and goals remain the same: to create beautiful Croatian music that carries a part of our specific Pacific musical expression and soul.”
The song “Oprosti,” as the guys point out, is about a classic love tragedy and the late realisation of the true meaning of a lost half. The words, music, and video are in perfect and simple harmony, effortlessly delivered by Christian and Austin.
The accompanying video, shot on the island of Vir, was created by Nevio Smajić and Mario Borščak. Interestingly, the brothers wear distinctive shirts with patterns and colours typical of the Pacific island of Samoa, their place of origin. Vibrant colours, strong contrasts, and short sleeves are characteristic and inspired by Samoan culture and heritage.
Christian and Austin are extremely proud of how their musical journey is developing in Croatia, and all the latest news and information about their performances are available on their social media, where they are very active. The Croatian public simply adores this charming duo, and their spontaneity and simplicity in musical expression and communication with the audience make them truly special.
