NBA star Luka Dončić spotted in Umag at the 30th Plava Laguna Croatia Open

UMAG, 20 July 2019 – Luka Dončić, the 20-year-old Slovenian basketball player, who was recently voted NBA Rookie of the Year, arrived in Umag on Friday where he attended the 30th edition of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open.
The Dallas Mavericks guard came to to cheer on fellow Slovenian Aljaž Bedene who played on Friday.
“I have come to Umag to support Aljaž Bedene. I support Slovenian athletes all the time, and this time is no exception. I also play tennis occasionally, so I like this sport and I enjoy watching it,” said Dončić at the entrance to the stadium just before the start of the match.
Dončić spent time also talking with former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic.
Born in Ljubljana, Dončić shone as a youth player and in 2018 joined the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. Dončić was selected unanimously to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and won Rookie of the Year for the 2018–19 season. A Slovenian international, Dončić made his senior debut for Slovenia in 2016 at age 17, helping it win its first EuroBasket title in 2017, while being named to the All-Tournament Team.
