More and more international cuisine options are popping up in the Croatian capital. The latest is La Marquiese – a French artisan bakery.
La Marquiese has only been open for a few days, but it is already proving popular among locals looking for something a little different.
La Marquiese, which is situated at 25 Rebar street, has been opened by French couple Celine and Sebastien Vermant. Celine and Sebastien have run French bakeries in France and the UK before they moved to Croatia earlier this year.
“To be authentic, you must have the right ingredients and know exactly what flavors you have to achieve,” La Marquise told Plava Kamenica, adding they only use French butter and flour because of the quality needed.
There are plans to open three more outlets around the city soon in the centre in Petrinjska street, in Maksimir, and at Bundek Center.
