Croatian Motorways (HAC) have made a decision regarding the selection of contractors for a new toll collection system and the procurement of backup equipment.
As daily Jutarnjii list reported today, after reviewing and evaluating the options, the economically most favourable bid was selected from the consortium of bidders SkyToll, a.s. from Bratislava, Slovakia, and TollNet a.s. from Prague, Czech Republic.
A completion deadline of 24 months from the contract signing was also included.
A total of 10 bids were received for the tender.
The system will utilise DSRC technology (radio communication at 5.8 GHz) for toll collection from users with ENC devices, and ALPR technology (license plate recognition) for toll collection from occasional users of light vehicles, as well as for toll payment monitoring of all vehicles.
The new toll collection system is based on free-flowing traffic, eliminating the need for stops at toll booths and thereby increasing traffic flow.
Funding for the implementation of the new toll collection system, which will be deployed across all highways in the Republic of Croatia (including those managed by the Croatian Motorways, Istrian Y Motorway, and Zagreb-Macelj Motorway), has been secured through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
