New York-Croat highlighted as volunteer for ‘School the World’

Ivan Butkovic, a New York Croat, became acquainted with School the World (STW) at a conference in 2016. STW raised funds to build two new schools thanks to the generosity of attendees.
Ivan deeply resonated with STW’s mission of making education more accessible to students in remote villages, and he’s been volunteering with STW ever since. STW highlighted him on their Facebook, LinkedIn, and X accounts as a volunteer:

“As a child in Croatia, I spent time in the hospital when I was misdiagnosed with epilepsy at the age of nine. I saw children there without visitors and I always wanted to give back one day so that no child would feel forgotten or alone. I started Children Have Dreams Too after learning the ins and outs of building a charity when I attended a Landmark course. Our first project was the donation of a pediatric respirator at the hospital I was a patient at in Croatia as a child.

Since then, we’ve expanded to other areas helping children in orphanages, hospitals and schools through organizations like STW. School the World is a very unique organization as they get the local community and parents involved to ensure the schools operate well. School the World also makes it seamless for organizations like ours to help as they do all the groundwork to ensure success. It’s also unique in the volunteering opportunities it offers for teenagers and others to help at the schools being built, a full circle of impact,” says Ivan.

Ivan is Einstein Electrical Corporation’s president and licensed master electrician. Einstein Electrical Corporation offers quality electrical installation and repair services for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The company offers services for both new and existing construction throughout all five boroughs of New York City. Actors, rock stars, and Wall Street executives are among the clients they serve.

Besides being the founder of Children Have Dreams Too, Ivan is also a board member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy. He is an active and respected member of the Croatian community in New York City.
