Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić win second title in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 7 February 2021 – Croatians Mate Pavić and Nikola Mektić have won their second doubles title in a row since pairing up at the start of 2021.
The Croatian Davis Cup teammates are unbeaten as a pairing after they won the ATP Murray River Open today in Melbourne.
Pavić and Mektić, who were the tournament’s no.1 seeds, beat France’s Fabrice Martin and Jeremy Chardy in the final 7:6, 6:3 to claim their second title in as many tournaments.
This is Pavić’s 19th ATP title of his career and Mektić’s 10th title.
Last month, Pavić and Mektić have won the Antalya Open, an ATP Tour 250 series tennis tournament in Turkey.

Both Pavić and Mektić had great a 2020. Pavić and his former partner Bruno Soares ended last year as the the world’s No.1 doubles team, whilst Mektić and his doubles partner Wesley Koolhof won the Nitto ATP Finals trophy in London. Mektić was the first Croatian to capture a trophy at the ATP finals.
Next stop for the Croatian duo is the Australian Open which starts on Monday.
