The inauguration of the new president of the Croatia has been pushed forward 3 days because US president Barack Obama has called a meeting on the scheduled day…
The ceremonial event marking the commencement of Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović’s five-year term of president of Croatia was scheduled to go ahead on 18 February, however, it will now be held on 15 February. The change of date came about after US president Barack Obama announced that a global summit on the fight against terrorism would be held in Washington on 18 February, meaning a number of heads of states would not be able to attend Grabar-Kitarović’s inauguration.
The inauguration will now happen on a Sunday, which is a better day for organisers than Wednesday which the 18th fell on. Grabar-Kitarović beat current president Ivo Josipović in run-off election on 11 January to become the first female president of Croatia.
