The oldest living Croat Andrija Prlic has passed away on Wednesday in the eastern Croatian town of Slavonksi Brod aged 106.
Prlic, who was born in 11 November 1907, has left behind 12 children, 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Prlic witnessed many changes in Croatia during his 106 years, living under five different states – Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslavia, Independent State of Croatia (NDH), Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and Croatia.
Prlic famously quit smoking at the ripe old age of 93, only because he was worried he would fall asleep with a lite cigarette and burn the house down, he drank two coffees and had a glass of red wine every day.
