One Croatian pizzeria makes Top 50 in Europe 2022 list

Franko’s Pizza & Bar in the Croatian capital Zagreb has been ranked again among the best 50 pizzerias in Europe outside of Italy by 50 Top Pizza, one of the most important pizza guides.
Franko’s Pizza & Bar was ranked 45th in Europe and was the only pizzeria in Croatia to make the list this year. Last year the popular Zagreb pizzeria was ranked 47th.
“In spite of a second difficult year because of the Pandemic, this establishment in the centre of the Croatian capital has been able to remain faithful to itself, maintaining its high standards in quality. This starts from the acquisition of the raw ingredients which is its strong point, as well as an attention to health issues, and the underscoring of vegetarian elements. The pizza is made in the pure Neapolitan style. It is well baked and digestible, with a dough which melts in your mouth. The service is attentive and fast. The wine and beer lists are vast, and there are also some cooked dishes available,” is how the Croatian pizzeria was described in this year’s rankings.

Franko’s opened on Zagreb’s Branimirova Street in 2019, and from the very beginning it has established itself as the place with the best pizzas in the city.

Peppe Pizzeria in Paris was named the best pizzeria in Europe outside of Italy in the annual ranking of the best pizza spots.
Fratelli Figurato in Madrid was ranked second best, followed by 50 Kalo London in London. Bæst in Copenhagen, Denmark was fourth, with Sartoria Panatieri in Barcellona ranked 5th best.
