One of Croatia’s best-known actors Ivo Gregurević dies aged 66

ZAGREB, 2 January 2019 – Legendary Croatian actor Ivo Gregurević has died suddenly on Wednesday aged 66. 

Gregurević, who is one of Croatia’s best-known actors, was found dead in his home in Zagreb this evening, daily Jutarnji list confirms. The cause of Gregurević’s death is not known at this stage. 

Gregurević graduated from the Drama Academy in Zagreb and worked in over 90 movies, 19 television series and over 30 theatre productions since the late 1970s. He acted the majority of Croatian movies after the nation gained independence in 1991. 

He won two Croatian Actors’ Association Awards for Šokica (1998) and Duga mračna noć (2006). In 2005 he was ranked second in the Croatian-based film magazine Hollywood in the “Best Croatian Male Movie Stars of All Time” list.

Besides movie roles, he made the successful appearances in popular Croatian TV-series, Velo misto, playing Netjak.
