One of India’s Most Powerful Men Interested in Croatia Investment

One of the most powerful people in India is interested in investing in tourism and the financial markets in Croatia, according to daily Jutarnji list.
Indian businessmen Subrata Roy Sahara (65), whose portfolio includes a film studio, Formula One team Force India, an IPL cricket team, London’s Grosvenor House and New York’s Plaza Hotel, has already invested around 200 million euros in the dairy industry in Macedonia has declared his interest in elite tourism projects in the region.
Sahara was the second largest employer at one stage in India after Indian Railways after he founded Sahara India Pariwar, a conglomerate with diversified business interests in finance, infrastructure & housing, media & entertainment, consumer merchandise retail venture, manufacturing and information technology.
“Croatia? I know it’s a very strong tourist country and I plan to visit shortly. From the projects in Macedonia all the nations in the region will prosper, we will spread out production, and we are always on the look out for film locations, which will plan to look for in all of the Balkans,” said Sahara, who confirmed that he would send a delegation to Croatia to check out the options as early as next month.
“My people will be in Croatia in November,” said Sahara, who was also interested in the financial markets in the country.
“I am interested in buying banks in Croatia. Insurance I would not buy, We have our own insurance house and we do not plan to expand, but if a bank is good and healthy then that interests us,” said Sahara. (Photo: Abhijit Bhatlekar/Mint)
