“First of all, I would like to thank and congratulate all the people of Osijek, all our visitors and the media who came with us. Osijek Advent also received confirmation that it is the most beautiful and best in Croatia. In a large poll in which over 100,000 people participated, the city of Osijek won and once again showed its winning mentality. I remind you that we recently won the Eco City award. In Advent itself, and especially in voting, we showed what communion and unity means. We have shown that Osijek supports Osijek,” Osijek Mayor Radić said.
The mayor added that Osijek had 7 percent more tourist nights in December 2021 than the record year of 2019.
The greatest victory of ‘Osijek Adventing’ are the people, ie their togetherness and unity. That is why we have decided to increase the prize fund in the competition of our tourist board. We will double the number of tickets for the panoramic wheel ride, from 200 to 400 – added Mayor Radić.
Osijek developed its unique concept in which Advent was not just at one place, but the experience of the city through a walk in 14 different locations. Advent magic in Osijek began on December 2, Osijek City Day, with a fairytale spectacle of the Kaleidoscope, the Festival of Lights, holiday lighting with 10 kilometers of lamps throughout the city, and a rich music program and catering offer in Advent houses.
“A special surprise and the biggest attraction was the Sky view, a 35-meter high and the largest panoramic wheel in Croatia, from which the most beautiful photos of the city were sent to the world. With this year’s scene, Osijek showed how even in epidemiologically uncertain conditions it can organize the biggest and brightest, and yet safe and modular Advent in which Osijek residents and their guests could safely and healthily enjoy a real holiday atmosphere throughout the city,” Grad Osijek concluded.
