A women from the eastern Croatian town of Vinkovci is being praised after it was reported that she saved a solo mother with bank debt from losing her job. Glas Slavonija reports that the women, who remains unnamed, demanded that her bosses made her redundant instead of her colleague.
When bosses at Unidal in Vinkovci decided to make a young solo mother of two redundant, the women stepped in. “Since I am still single and with no obligations and I live at home with my parents, I can be let go instead of my colleague,” the women asked, “I want to give my job to my colleague, but with the guarantee that the position will only go to her,” she said to the company’s directors.
The newspaper reports that the request had some of the bosses in tears, before they agreed to the deal. Unidal manufactures forged steel for suspension and jointing equipment for all types of transmission lines, electrification of railways, and for the automotive industry. It employs 130 workers.
