The 15th PaprikaFest will take place from 5-6 October in the eastern Croatian village of Lug.
This unique festival will feature dozens of stands offering a variety of local fresh, ground, sweet, and hot peppers.
Held annually to celebrate Lug Village Day, PaprikaFest highlights the importance of paprika, particularly ground paprika, as a key element of Baranja’s distinctive cuisine.
Lug is a small settlement in the Bilje municipality, located within the Osijek-Baranja County. The region is known for its paprika production, with many family-run farms in Lug specialising in what is often called “Baranja’s red gold.”
PaprikaFest not only celebrates paprika but also brings together exhibitors offering a wide range of local products. The festival showcases local gastronomy through food and drink, and cultural heritage through traditional music and dance.
Lug’s population is predominantly Hungarian, and the festival offers visitors the chance to experience Hungarian culture and customs in Croatia.
This rich multicultural atmosphere is what makes the Baranja region so unique and special.
