Dinamo Zagreb fans who own $DZG fan tokens on the Socios.com app were given the exclusive opportunity today to choose the name for one of the training grounds at the club’s Maksimir Stadium headquarters.
The choice was between the names of four former Dinamo Zagreb midfield virtuosos who have won the Champions League and have left a significant mark on the Croatian national football team – Luka Modrić, Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinečki, and Mateo Kovačić.
Modrić, who was a former Dinamo Zagreb captain who later went on to captain the Croatian national team and become the world’s best player as well as one of the best players in Real Madrid’s history, received the most votes with 44.91%.
Modrić won three league titles with Dinamo, including two doubles, as well as one Super Cup. He has won the Champions League five times in his career with Real Madrid and was awarded the Ballon d’Or in 2018.
He led the national team to silver at the 2018 World Cup and bronze at the 2022 World Cup. Modrić has also received numerous individual awards such as multiple appearances in the UEFA Champions League’s best team, the best team of the Spanish La Liga, the award for the best player of the 2018 World Cup, multiple wins of the Franjo Bučar award for the best Croatian athlete of the year, and many others.
