‘No, he did not win a competition to train with the Bayern Munich first team’ – was one comment after photographs of young Croat Toni Trogrančić training with one of Europe’s best teams started to circulate…
Trogrančić (15), who plays for Bayern Munich’s U-15 side, was personally invited to train with the first team recently by Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola, with many predicting the youth international is destined for big things.
The Croatian FA may have a battle on their hands to keep the talented German-born Croat. Born in 2000 in Bad Aibling near Munich to parents from Fojnica, Bosnia and Herzegovina (father) and Vinkovci, Croatia (mother), Toni could be eligible to play for Germany. However the family have pledged their allegiances to Croatia, and last year Toni made his debut for the Croatian U-15 side.
“Toni has just started playing for Croatia, and he was recently selected for the U-15 side. Till now he passed through all representative teams for Bavaria. There is no dilemma, and there never has been, if Croatia call then he will play for Croatia. If not then there are other options,” Toni’s father Dario told Max after he was selected to represent Croatia. (photo / Twitter)
